SUMMER SCHOOL

The Urban Bridges Summer School provides hands-on learning to 50 middle school youth in Literacy & Language Development, Community Development, Personal Development, and Media, Technology & Art, with high school mentors supporting students as peer leaders and teacher assistants. These older youth lead poetry workshops, video making⁄editing workshops, an outdoor program component, and a mural creation class. Youth leadership training, public art projects and community service projects create a foundation for youth to create change in their neighborhood and educate the community on youth issues. Each summer culminates with a community celebration honoring youth accomplishments. This summer, young people planned and hosted SJETC´s 30th Anniversary Celebration in July.
